Based in Port Coquitlam BC, Dog Treats by Holly came about through a frustration with not fully understanding the ingredients on the packaging of existing dog treats. Our promise to you and your dog.."You can pronounce and understand all ingredients". Our treats are made entirely from organic, wholesome ingredients, which are sourced locally wherever possible. We keep it simple, tasty and healthy. Dogs love them.
When I read what ingredients are in dog treats, I stop and shake my head. Artificial colors, preservatives, sugar, salt and frankly ingredients, I don't even know, understand or can even pronounce.
Healthy choices for your furry friend:
Watermelon, cooked sweet potato, bananas, broccoli, strawberries, watermelon, blueberries, cooked carrots, cooked oatmeal, apples (no seeds), cooked beans, cooked eggs, cooked beets and cooked spinach.
Unhealthy or toxic foods you should never give your furry friend.
Grapes and Raisons - Can cause liver damage or kidney failure in dogs.
Chocolate- Contains a stimulant called theobromine which can cause kidney failure in dogs.
Xylitol- Is an artificial sweetener, which is highly toxic causing low blood sugar and liver damage.
Avocados - Contain persin which can cause diarrhea, vomiting and heart congestion.
Onions and Garlic- Can damage your dog's red blood cells.
Macadamia Nuts - Can cause upset stomach, diarrhea and can lead to weakness and muscle tremors.
Salt - Dogs with heart or kidney conditions should avoid salt.
Cherries - The main danger is the pits, stems and leaves that contain cyanide which is poisonous if consumed in large quantities. The pits can get lodged in a dog's digestive tract causing intestinal blockage.
All our treats are dehydrated for 18 hours. This is turn allows the food to retain more of its nutritional value and taking extra moisture out, giving them a longer shelf life. When you give your pup a treat, take the time to read the ingredients and make a conscious decision.
